On June 12th, the CIRCE Foundation, together with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the National Rural Network and ASAJA, organized a Conference on the application of circular bioeconomy for rural development through biomass in the auditorium of the Ministry’s headquarters.

In this meeting, the Ministry  exposed the strategic framework of the bioeconomy and the opportunities that it has in the new PAC, in addition, guests were counted on to approach the European point of view, as well as the point of view from the opportunities of I+D+i. In this context, Asaja and the Circe Foundation disseminated the results of the uP_running H2020 project, as well as success stories on the valorisation of woody biomass and the implementation of new initiatives based on circular bioeconomy.

One of the initiatives presented, by Laura Carbó, Environment Technician at the Town Council, was the use of vine pruning in the Penedés area, which has been promoted by the Vilafranca del Penedès City Council. The taking of a dynamizing role of the local actors, the lessons learned, as well as innovation in creating a new municipal Water and Energy service in Vilafranca and not only water distribution, were considered to be key messages that can have an echo and relevance in the type of energy that is being promoted.
