The digital specialized in the wine sector VADEVI has echoed of the VINEYARDS4HEAT project, explaining it to those interested in the world of wine. In short it says that for the moment in the Penedès, the vine shoots of almost 800 hectares of vineyards have been collected, which represents about 500 tonnes of pruning waste collected, CO2 emissions have been reduced by 240 tons, 815 people have benefit of the heating service generated by the biomass boilers and € 57,800 of energy savings have been achieved.

The use of the biomass of the vineyard is carried out by combustion in biomass boilers that produce hot water for heating. Within the framework of the project, 2 boilers of vine biomass have been installed: one of 500kW supplying four public facilities of Vilafranca del Penedès and another of 130kW to Caves Vilarnau, which has allowed to fully replace the total consumption of fossil fuels.
