The Plenary session of the town hall of Vilafranca approved last 28th of March the financial report exercise, through the Municipal Water Company EMAVSA, the business activity to market thermal energy, in accordance with previous agreements that modified the statutes of EMAVSA to be able to exercise this activity. The agreement is now final, once have taken place the 30 working days of public information without any arguments presented.

This energy, which comes from the vineyard’s vine shoots, it could be sold to public institutions and private companies following the municipal Central European Model that provides basic services to the companies and to the general public, and specifically following the example of the German town of Bühl, twinned with Vilafranca, which performs this activity with success and has had several contacts with the Vilafranca responsible.

With this step is implemented one of the goals of the project VINEYARDS4HEAT in the frame of the European program LIFE, that Vilafranca has a public company with the capacity to commercialize km.0 thermal energy, which in our case is the vineyard’s biomass.
